How it works ▸

Each video frame is scanned line-by-line and converted to sound. Pixel brightness becomes an audio frequency (dark = low Hz, bright = high Hz). Sync is signaled with special low-frequency pulse tones:

FRAME = [V-SYNC][H-SYNC][pixels...][H-SYNC][pixels...] ...
        └─ 500Hz  └─700Hz └ 1500-2300Hz swept per line ┘

V-Sync pulse — long low tone, resets decoder to top-left.
H-Sync pulse — short low tone, advances to next scanline.
Pixels — instantaneous frequency swept across each line.

⚠ Loopback tip: no headphones, speaker pointed at the mic. Yes, it sounds like a robot gargling. That's the point. Turn volume up, background quiet.
